Gel Card technology introduced to Army Hospital Blood Bank

[Feb 16 2017]

The Blood Bank at the Army Hospital has introduced a new 'Gel Card Technology' for facilitating blood grouping and compatibility testing for patients. The new method which came into effect at the army's premier medical facility from 01sf of February (2017) had been introduced in order to expedite procedures and in keeping with technology presently being used by blood banks in developed countries.

According to army media sources the new technology will help patients to obtain accurate results of their blood testing and the Gel Card can also be stored for many weeks to revise results, if necessary. The new method would also reduce the transfusion of blood from patients for testing purposes.
