Naval personnel donate blood in Jaffna

large number of Sri Lanka Navy personnel serving in
the Northern Naval Command donated blood during a blood donation
campaign held during the weekend (28th Saturday). The programme, held in
parallel to the Vesak festival was conducted in response to a request
made by the consultant transfusion physician of the Northern Province
Regional Blood Bank.
Naval personnel serving in establishments, ships and
craft belonging to the Northern Naval Command voluntarily donated blood
to replenish stocks at the blood bank. The programme was conducted in
cooperation with the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.
A similar blood donation campaign was held earlier
this month (07) by the Northern Naval Command for the benefit of the
patients in the region. In addition field medical clinics are also
conducted in the region, especially in the islets by the Navy. Medicine
and nutritional supplements are provided free of charge for the patients
attending these clinics.
