Navy installed water treatment plants vested on the public

[November 19 2018]

Several Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment plants produced and installed by the Sri Lanka Navy were vested on the public recently. Accordingly, four new RO water treatment plants installed at Hatharaswala Junior School in Saliyapura, Teaching Hospital Anuradhapura, Dhamma Parami Aranya Senasanaya in Katukeliyawa and at the Mirisawetiya temple in Anuradhapura were opened during separate ceremonies by the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe on Saturday (17 November 2018).

These RO plants, produced by the Research and Development Unit of the Sri Lanka Navy are installed at locations spread across the island especially in areas prone to Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). The project is ably supported by the Presidential Task Force for Prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease that had been set up on a visionary concept of President Maithripala Sirisena.

A large number of people in backward areas and school children have gained access to clean and safe drinking water under this community welfare initiative of the Sri Lanka Navy.
