189 acres released for civilians

Sri Lanka Army released 189 acres of land situated in the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) Army Cantonment premises on Wednesday (19) during a formal ceremony, states Army media sources.

With the release of this land, families who were living elsewhere will be able to return to their original places of residence in Keppapilavu. The land was formally handed over to the Maritimepattu Divisional Secretary in the presence the Mullaitivu District Secretary by Brigadier General Staff, SFHQ-MLT during the ceremony.

Minister of Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs Hon. D. M. Swaminathan was also present at the occasion.

In January this year (25 January 2017) an area of 243 acres of land belonging to the people of Keppapilavu which was earlier used by the security forces was also released for the civilian owners.
