86 Tamil civilians reach security forces seeking safety - Jaffna
Eighty-Six Tamil civilians who were able to escape
LTTE's grip have reached to the security forces in Jaffna seeking safety
for their lives this morning, 13 January.
According to the available information, civilians have
arrived at security forces controlled area in two separate occasions
today.
First group, 17 civilians comprising 5 males, 6
females and 6 children arrived around 7.00 AM while the second group, 69
civilians comprising 23 males, 21 females and 25 children arrived at
8.45 AM, military sources said.
As troops operated southwards from Muhamalai towards
Elephant Pass totally liberating the A-9 Jaffna -Kandy main road, more
escaping routes have been opened for the civilians trapped as a human
shield by the LTTE terrorists. It is gradually increasing the number of
Tamil civilians enter into the government controlled area seeking safety
for their lives.
The military officials have already been made
arrangements to provide shelter for the Tamil escapees after providing
them with meals, medical treatment and other necessities. |
