Panadura Sri Sumangala Vidyalaya praises its war heroes
Old boys association of the Panadura Sri Sumangala
Vidyalaya has organized a notable ceremony, today (06 Nov) to tribute
war heroes whom were made by the school.
Defence Secretary Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa has graced
the occasion as the chief guest and 186 war heroes from armed services,
Police and next of kin of war heroes who sacrificed their noble lives
during the humanitarian operations, also being praised at the ceremony.
The Defence Secretary planted the foundation stone for
the war hero's memorial which is to be built at the school premises
before the beginning of the ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony the Defence Secretary said
"we are now in a decisive stage. We had to undergo immense of
difficulties to wipe out the terrorism from the country, and we must
protect this triumph for generations ahead, then only the lives of those
who died get real value in return".
"We further working on to get down all assets
belonging to the LTTE by eradicating its international network from the
world", he added.
Principle of the school Mr. L. W. Somathilaka led the
activities at the ceremony.
