Anniversary 'Air Tattoo' concludes successfully
Tattoo' organized in view of the
anniversary celebrations of the
Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF)
concluded on a successful note
on Monday (05th March). The
three-day event held at the SLAF
station in Ampara was attended
by thousands of people including
hundreds of school children.
The Sri Lanka Air Force celebrated its 67th
anniversary on 02nd March (2018).
The 'Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya -2018' cycle race
held for the 19th year, in view of the anniversary celebrations
concluded on Sunday. According to Air Force media, the overall
championship was won by Madushanka Fernando of the Air Force while the
Air Force cycle team took away the team event. The women's event was won
by Shyamali of the Civil Security Department (CSD) while the SLAF won
the team event. The three stage, 447.4 km long men's race from Colombo
to Ampara was flagged off on Friday (02nd March) while the one day
women's' event was held on Sunday from Batticaloa to Ampara covering a
distance of 65.2 km.
Meanwhile, the new Assembly Hall of the Himidurawa
Maha Vidyalaya, Ampara constructed by the Sri Lanka Air Force was
declared on Saturday (03rd March). According to SLAF media, the project
was carried out by the SLAF Station Ampara and was funded by the Command
The Assemble Hall was declared open by the Commander
of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy.
