Annual Indo-Sri Lanka IMBL meeting held
Indian Naval Ship 'Sumithra' was
the venue for the 29th
International Maritime Boundary
Line (IMBL) meeting between Sri
Lanka and India. The annual
meeting was held onboard 'Sumithra'
at the Indo- Lanka Maritime
Boundary Line off Kankasanthurai,
on Thursday (03rd May 2018).
The 11 member local delegation, including Navy and
Coastguard officers was led by, Commander North Central Naval Area, Rear
Admiral Muditha Gamage.
The nine member delegation from the neighbouring
country was led by, Flag Officer Commanding Tamil Nadu Naval Area, Rear
Admiral Alok Bhatnagar. The Indian Defence Attaché in Colombo was also
present at the occasion.
The annual IMBL meeting is held with the aim of
strengthening relations and operational readiness between the Navies and
Coast Guards of the two countries. Regional maritime security was among
the issues taken up for discussion during the meeting, this year.
The previous (28th) IMBL meeting was conducted onboard
Sri Lanka Navy Ship 'Sayura' on May (19), last year (2017).
