Another stretch of land released in Jaffna

More lands released in Jaffna

[March 05 2019]

Another segment of land used by Sri Lanka Army troops has been released in Jaffna. This measure was taken by the Army, continuing to honour its commitment to return state and private lands, being used by the troops in the Northern and Eastern regions.

Accordingly, a total of 19.72 acres in Myladdy North and East inside the Palaly Army Cantonment and a portion adjoining it was released on Monday ( 04 March) on account of the sacred Maha Shiva Rathri day.

A small portion (0.25 acres) of the released land in Myladdy is state while the rest is privately owned land.

The land handing over ceremony took place at the Thelippalai Divisional Secretariat.

In a symbolic gesture the Commander, Security Forces-Jafns, Major General Dharshana Hettiaarachchi, handed over the land handing over documents to the Jaffna District Secretary Mr N. Vethanayahan during the ceremony.

Several state officials and land owners were also present at the occasion.

So far a large amount of land have been released in the North and East with the objective of strengthening reconciliation and ethnic harmony.
