More lands released in Jaffna

Another segment of land used by Sri Lanka Army troops
has been released in Jaffna. This measure was taken by the Army,
continuing to honour its commitment to return state and private lands,
being used by the troops in the Northern and Eastern regions.
Accordingly, a total of 19.72 acres in Myladdy North
and East inside the Palaly Army Cantonment and a portion adjoining it
was released on Monday ( 04 March) on account of the sacred Maha Shiva
A small portion (0.25 acres) of the released land in
Myladdy is state while the rest is privately owned land.
The land handing over ceremony took place at the
Thelippalai Divisional Secretariat.
In a symbolic gesture the Commander, Security Forces-Jafns,
Major General Dharshana Hettiaarachchi, handed over the land handing
over documents to the Jaffna District Secretary Mr N. Vethanayahan
during the ceremony.
Several state officials and land owners were also
present at the occasion.
So far a large amount of land have been released in
the North and East with the objective of strengthening reconciliation
and ethnic harmony.
