Army renovates Children's Park affected by floods

assistance to the communities in
the North who were affected by
the recent floods in the region,
the Children's Park at
pre-school premises in
was completely renovated and
handed over by Army troops.
According to Army media, the
newly re-done park was vested on
the public during a ceremony on
Tuesday (05 February).
In addition, 50 gift packs of educational accessories
were presented to the pre-school children and 50 dry ration packets were
also donated to a group of women from low-income families during the
General Officer Commanding, 51 Division Major General
Roshan Seneviratne, senior Army officers, beneficiaries and a large
number of local residents were present at the occasion.
Many areas in the North were inundated during a bad
weather spell in December, last year. Apart from the initial rescue and
relief operations, troops had initiated a number of projects to assist
the flood affected communities resume their normal lives. The renovation
of this children's park was also carried out as a part of that welfare
