Awareness programme held at Hambantota

An awareness programme on sea water purification and
medical clinics were conducted in the Hanbantota area under the 'Pacific
Partnership - 2017' programme on Thursday (09th March). According to
Navy media sources the crew of USNS Fall River, the visiting US naval
ship, carried out the awareness programme on sea water purification and
related training drills at the Hambantota Port. It was held aiming at
imparting knowledge to local Naval personnel on sea water purification
and distribution during emergency situations.
Medical clinics were held at the Tissamaharama Base
Hospital for the local residents. More than 200 patients were benefitted
by the ophthalmic, dental and OPD clinics conducted by the medical
officers and staff of the visiting US ship.
