[September 14 2018]

A "Cradle Operation" was carried out by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) assisted by the Sri Lanka Aviation Unit, on Tuesday (11 September 2018). According to Air Force media, this is the maiden such exercise conducted by them.

The exercise simulated the rescue and transport of a patient from a barge operating in the Nile river, to a hospital nearby for the treatment. The Sri Lanka Aviation Unit is the only capable aviation unit in the UNMISS for executing a Cradle Operation.

The Chief Aviation Officer (CAVO) of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Mr. Samuel Abrokwa was also present to witnessed the exercise.
