Medical equipment gifted to Army Hospital

A consignment of hospital equipment was gifted to the Army Hospital by the Maha Karuna Buddhist Society of Singapore during a ceremony on Friday (12th May). Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi accepted the donation of equipment including electric beds and wheel chairs from the Singapore-based Ven Dr Karawetayana Gunarathana Thero during the ceremony. Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Crisanthe De Silva was also present at the occasion.

Ven Dr Karawetayana Gunarathana Thero was instrumental in obtaining this consignment of hospital equipment for the Army Hospital with the support of several Singaporean philanthropists. The donation was made to coincide with the ongoing Vesak celebration.

The consignment of equipment includes 10 special hospital beds with mattresses and pillows, 20 wheelchairs, 15 saline stands, 5 walkers and 5 suction machines.

Senior military officers, Military Liaison Officer of the MoD, representatives of the Maha Karuna Buddhist Society of Singapore were also present at the occasion.
