More community projects by the Army

Under its community welfare project, Directorate of
Agriculture and Livestock of the Army launched a training programme to
enhance knowledge of farmers on agriculture and farming recently (8th
Sunday, January 2017).
14 agrarian instructors and agriculture degree-holding
officers of the Army are to conduct 60 days long programme to enhance
knowledge of farmers on proper planting, caring, productivity, cost
reduction, harvesting, storing, climatic changes, use of carbonic manure
and many other related areas with practical sessions and field visits.
The training programme is to conduct in Army managed
farms in Kandakadu, Nachchikuda, Vellankulam, Manik and Udayarkattu. 223
selected agrarian workers and potential farmers across the country are
to undergo the training.
26 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops of the army also
built three new wells and handed over them for public use at Veheratenna
in Vavuniya. Sponsorship for three wells was extended by the Chief
Incumbent at Sri Vajiraramaya temple, Bambalapitiya Ven Trikunamalaye
Ananda Anunayaka Thero.
