More community welfare programmes in Jaffna

Sri Lanka Army troops in Jaffna carried out a number of community welfare programmes in view of the 70th Independence Anniversary. Troops of the 18 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) under Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) conducted a Shramadana prgramme (Self-help) in Manipay on Friday (09th February). Troops launched the programme at the Kattudei Nawali Attagiri Saiwa College in Ariyalai to clean the school premises. A group of students of the school also joined with the troops to clean their school.


Meanwhile, troops of the 55 Division in Jaffna organized a beach cleaning programme along the Kaddaikadu to Chundikulam costal area recently. A stretch of about 3km of beachfront was cleaned during the programme. More than 160 Army personnel were involved in this community welfare initiative.
