Navy installs two more water treatment plants

Sri Lanka Navy declared open two more Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants in Vavuniya and Nochchiyagama recently. The two water treatment plants, produced by navy's Research and Development Unit were installed under its community welfare programme.

The RO plant installed at the Vavuniya Police Station with financial assistance from the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Kidney Diseases will provide safe drinking water to more than 500 police personnel and the area residents. The other RO plant was installed at Mahalindawewa in Nochchiyagama. This plant which will enable 45 families in the village to draw safe drinking water for their daily requirements was installed with financial contribution from 'Sirasa Gammadda 100 days' programme.

Sri Lanka Navy has already installed 42 water treatment plants around the country especially in areas prone to Chronic Interstitial Nephritis.
