New domestic sanitary facilities for low income families in Jaffna
[March 15 2019]
As a part of its committed service in assisting the
local communities in the North and East to uplift their living
standards, the Sri Lanka Army has initiated and carried out a number of
social welfare programmes. Providing proper domestic sanitary facilities
for low income families is one such social welfare project.
Recently, troops in Jaffna handed over 10 such
domestic sanitary facilities constructed by them to ten deserving
families in Jaffna.
The handing over ceremony was held at the
Thiruwalluwar Community Centre under the patronage of Commander,
Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) Major General Dharshana Hettiarachchi.
During the occasion, the beneficiary families were
also provided with packets of sanitaryware and cleansing powder.
Troops in the Jaffna Peninsula have built more than 50
such domestic sanitary facilities for deserving families in the region
in the past one year alone.
