President visits Defence Headquarters Complex construction site

President Maithripala Sirisena made a visit to the Defence Headquarters Complex (DHQC) under construction at Akuregoda in Battaramulla on Tuesday (05th September). According to Army media, the President made the visit to the construction site with a view to receive an update on the progress of the ongoing project.

During his visit the President inspected different sections of the complex and was given a comprehensive briefing on the progress of the project by senior Army officers of the Project Management Unit, DHQC. He also instructed the Army Commander, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake to seek possibilities of expediting the work related to the Army Headquarters and also wanted any issues regarding the construction be resolved through discussions.

Presidential Secretary Mr. Austin Fernando accompanied the President during his visit.
