Prosthetics for Northern civilians

[June 11 2018]

A group of civilians with physical disabilities were beneficiaries of a Sri Lanka Army organized initiative launched during a ceremony on Saturday (09). According to Army media, the programme had been launched by the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) in collaboration with the Centre for the Handicapped in Kundasale to provide prosthetic limbs for deserving people with disabilities in the region.

Beneficiaries from low income families in the region were identified with the assistance of state officials before measurements for the limbs were obtained. Thus 28 civilians were selected to be presented with artificial limbs under this segment of the programme.

Prosthetic limbs to the value of Rs. 1.2 million were distributed during the ceremony held at the Harmony Centre in Kilinochchi during the weekend.

Sri Lanka Army troops in the Northern region had on many previous occasions have organized such civilian welfare programmes to provide such incentives to uplift the living standards of the masses.
