Service pension benefits to differently abled prematurely retired

Service pension benefits were awarded to the
differently abled prematurely retired War Heroes in an event held under
the patronage of the President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential
Secretariat today (14th February 2017).
States Minister of Defence Hon. Ruwan Wijewardene was
also present at the occasion.
Accordingly, officers with less than 10 years of
service and other ranks with less than 12 years of service in tri forces
and police personnel with less than 10 years of service, who got
disabled due to terrorist acts and retired, will be eligible to receive
During the event, a total of 150 retired disabled
personnel [Army (100), Navy (22), Air Force (25) and Police (3)]
symbolically received their certificates for payment of their service
Additionally, all disabled war heroes will continue to
enjoy welfare facilities initiated by the Ministry of Defence and
respective services at regimental level and medical services provided by
the military hospitals.
Secretary to Ministry of Finance, Senior Additional
Secretary to the President Mr. Kingsly Fernando, Secretary to the State
Ministry of Defence Mr. APG Kithsiri, Chief of Defence Staff, Army and
Air Force Commanders, Chairperson of the Ranaviru Seva Authority, senior
ministry officials, tri forces and police represe ntatives were also
present at the occasion.
