Sick fisherman brought ashore for treatment

[November 08 2018]

A local fisherman who had been taken ill after suffering a heart condition was safely brought ashore by the Sri Lanka Navy. According to Navy media, the fisherman had ventured to sea onboard the fishing trawler 'Laksiri 4' from the Gandara fisheries harbor in the Southern region, on Monday (05 November).

Sri Lanka Navy had rushed one of its Fast Attack Craft to bring ashore the sick fisherman upon receiving information from the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources. By then an Indian merchant vessel plying the seas had picked up the fisherman. Later, he was safely transferred to the Navy craft and brought ashore to the Trincomalee harbor and dispatched to the Trincomalee General Hospital for treatment.
