State Minister declares open Vesak Zone

State Minister of Defence Hon. Ruwan Wijewardene declared open the third day proceedings of the Sirasa Namami Vesak Zone in Colombo on Friday evening (12th May). The State Minister, up on arriving at the venue offered flowers and switched on the special illuminated displays of the Vesak Zone symbolically signifying the beginning of the third day's proceedings.

State Minister Wijewardene also paid homage to the sacred relics placed for public veneration during the occasion. Later he made a visit around the Vesak Zone and admired the ornately decorated Vesak lanterns, pandols and other illuminated decorations. He also declared open a Vesak lantern and a couple of dansalas. These dansalas (stalls offering free food and refreshments) had been organized by the Sri Lanka Navy and the Vesak Zone organizing committee. The State Minister also took time to talk with the people visiting the Vesak Zone.
