Troops' initiative assist handicapped and students in the North

A group of differently able civilians in
Thachchanamaradamadu in the Madu area was provided with prosthetic limbs
under a project initiated by the Sri Lanka Army, recently. According to
Army media, 16 physically-handicapped beneficiaries from low income
families were presented with artificial limbs by the Army in
collaboration with the Centre for the Handicapped in Kundasale during
the ceremony held on Saturday (03 November).
The prosthetics valued at around one million rupees
were provided by the Kundasale Centre for the Handicapped.
At the same event six schools in the region were
presented with library books worth Rs. 80,000.00 each, sponsored by the
Asia Foundation. In addition, 52 students from low-income families were
also presented with exercise books and school accessories as educational
