Arms recovered - Jaffna , at 4:30 p.m. on 7th Jan 2006

Troops recovered today (07) around 4.30 p.m. a claymore mine weighing 5 kg, a remote controller and a mobile phone on a search operation made by the troops after they received information from a civilian that Tiger terrorists were hiding at Kodikamam, Jaffna.

The troops are continuing the search operation.


A terrorist killed - Vavvuniya, at 7:30 a.m. on 7th Jan 2006

Three soldiers were injured when Tiger terrorists detonated a claymore mine targeting a foot patrol today (07) at Mamaduwa, Maharamaikulam around 7.30 a.m.

The troops retaliated. In a subsequent search operation, the dead body of a terrorist and another injured terrorist were found.

The injured terrorist is hospitalized. The cordon and search operation is continuing.


Five civilians injured by tiger claymore mine explosion - Ampara, at 10:30 a.m. on 7th Jan 2006

A claymore mine set up near the central camp Town area on Sunday (07) at 10.30 a.m. exploded injuring five civilians including Two Sinhalese, Two Muslims and One Tamil.

Central Camp Police is conducting inquiries. A search operation is also underway.


Tigers target Army foot patrol with claymore mine -Vavuniya, at 7:30 a.m. On 7th Jan 2006

Troops on foot patrol today (07) at 7.30 a.m. were attacked by the Tigers detonating a Claymore mine at Mamaduwa, Maharambhakulam area. Three soldiers are reported injured.
