Navy renders towing assistance to distressed local fishing trawler in eastern seas
The Sri Lanka Navy rendered towing assistance to a distressed local multiday fishing trawler in eastern seas and guided it safely to the Cod Bay Fisheries Harbour yesterday (10th March 2023). In coordination with the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo established at the Navy Headquarters, this SAR operation was mounted to rescue 06 fishermen on the fishing trawler which was in distress, due to a mechanical failure, about 54 nautical miles (about 100km) off the eastern coast.
West Troops Help to Maintain Essential Health Services in Hospitals
On a request made by hospital authorities, troops of the 14 and the 61 Infantry Divisions under the Security Force HQ-West on Wednesday (8) provided their emergency assistance to maintain essential health services after a trade union action of minor employees in hospitals affected the smooth conduct of their services.

in Kachchativu on successful note
The annual feast of St. Anthony’s Church in Kachchativu concluded on a successful note on 03rd and 04th March 2023. Kachchativu is an islet belonging to Sri Lanka, located close to the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) of Sri Lanka and India. The main mass of the church festival was conducted by the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Colombo, Rt. Rev. Anton Ranjith Pillenayagam, and proceedings of the event had been organised under the guidance of the District Secretary of Jaffna, Mr. A Sivabalasundaram and with the support of Navy Christian Council. The annual festival was attended by a number of devotees from both India and Sri Lanka. On behalf of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the main mass was attended by the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Aruna Tennekoon.
