Navy rescues 04 fishermen including one trapped in capsized trawler
in south-eastern waters

In a dedicated search and rescue operation, Sri Lanka Navy rescued 04 fishermen, including a fisher trapped inside a multiday fishing trawler for 04 days, as their trawler was in distress in south-eastern waters, and rushed them to the Kalmunai Hospital for treatment today (11 December 2022). Reportedly, the fishing trawler had capsized about 46 nautical miles (85km) off the Sangaman Kanda Point, following adverse weather.

Rainy weather with strong winds predicted

According to the latest forecasts of the Met Department widespread rains and strong winds are predicted over the island. The cyclonic storm “Mandous” over Southwest Bay of Bengal (300km north-east of Trincomalee) is very likely to move west-northwestwards over Southwest Bay of Bengal around mid-night tomorrow  (09 Dec), it says.
