Critically ill local fisherman brought ashore for treatment
A local fisherman who was in a critical condition due to a cobra bite at the Iranathivu island was brought ashore for treatment by Navy troops on Tuesday (06). According to Navy media, naval personnel at the Iranathivu detachment has observed the fisherman in distress and had informed higher authorities.

Colombo Defence Seminar- 2019 in August
The Colombo Defence Seminar- 2019 is to be held at the tail end of this month (August) in Colombo. According to Army media, the premier annual two-day international defence conference organized by the Sri Lanka Army will begin at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) on the 29th morning and will conclude with the conclusion ceremony the next day (30).
KDU Southern Campus gets new Auditorium
Adding yet another feature to the expanding Southern Campus of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), a new auditorium was declared open on Sunday (04 August 2019). According to Navy media, the new facility was declared open by Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva.

The 12th International Research Conference organized by the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDUIRC) will be held on 11th and 12th, September (2019). This year the two-day conference will be held under the theme ‘Challenges to Humankind in the face of new Technologies’.
