Army commences mobile vegetable selling project to support cultivators in Mullaithivu
April 07, 2020The troops in the 64 Division have supported the farmers in Mullaithivu district to sell their vegetables through a mobile selling facility launched to help Nanthikadal-based vegetable growers.
Since the prevailing curfew hours to control the COVID -19 outbreak has prevented the farmers from moving out to the markets for sale of their harvest, this door-to-door mobile mechanism was facilitated in coordination with local state and Police authorities.
17 Gajaba Regiment troops of the 642 Brigade with the assistance of the Divisional Secretariat - Oddusudan, Grama Niladhari (state official), Police and other health officials of the area executed the arrangement by facilitating the vegetable growers, beginning from Sunday (5) onwards.
