Lotus Tower to light up to pay tribute to frontline workers of COVID-19
April 11, 2020The Colombo Lotus Tower is to be lit up at 06.45 this evening (April 11), to pay tribute to all personnel who are leading the fight against COVID -19.
“The Lotus Tower will be lit at 6.45 pm today to honor and pay tribute to the Healthcare, Armed Forces, Police and all supporting personnel, who are leading the battle against COVID-19” , the President Media Division stated in a twitter message posted.
The initiative was proposed by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in retrospect of those at the front lines, engaged in a selfless service to the nation against the pandemic.
The Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) said the Lotus Tower would be lit to pay gratitude, respect and to inspire all – the health workers, tri-forces and police personnel and all those who were supporting the Government’s fight against COVID-19 to contain the spread of the virus.
"Their selfless service is the lifeblood of our country today and it is our duty to take care of them", TRCSL said.
