Army deploys Quick Reaction Team riders to conduct random temperature checks
April 23, 2020Sri Lanka Army (SLA) has commenced random temperature checks on people who are in essential services and also entering the Colombo district.
This initiative, which is proposed by the Head of the Nation Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) and acting Chief of Defence Staff Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva, is carried out by the SLA’s Quick Reaction Team (QRT) riders.
The QRT with 20 Army riders will conduct random temperature checks on those people. SLA Chief Lt. Gen. Silva has introduced this method to strengthen the Government’s ongoing coronavirus preventive mechanism in the Colombo district, which has been identified as the most risky areas for spreading coronavirus.
This new practice will help to identify persons with high temperature and to direct them immediately for respective hospitals for necessary medical treatments.
The SLA requests people who are engaged in essential services to support QRT riders, who operate under the Directorate of Army Operations, as they reach those people to check their temperature for their own safety to protect them from coronavirus infection.
