Army-built two houses handed over to recipient families

Two new houses constructed for two needy families by Wanni troops Sri Lanka Army (SLA) with sponsorship provided by expatriates were handed over to  beneficiaries on Friday (24) by the Commander Security Force - Wanni Maj. Gen. Rohitha Dharmasiri.

The first house was given to K.D Nandasena, a father of four living in Ethdathkalla, Thanthirimale.

D.K. Dinesh Kumara of Medawachchieliya, Thanthirimale, who has three children was given the second house.

Commander 212 Brigade Col. Anil Peiris through his personal contacts invited philanthropists Jagath Gunasekara and Shantha Kumaragamage who are residents in Australian and were keen in supporting needy families to construct houses.

Troops of 5 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard under Command to 212 Brigade with the supervision of General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 21 Division Maj. Gen. Vikum Liyanage had undertaken the construction of houses.

Maj. Gen. Vikum Liyanage, Col. Anil Peiris, Chief Civil affairs officer of SFHQ-Wanni Civil affairs officers of 21 Division and 212 Brigade, Commanding Officer of 5 Sri Lanka National Guard participated in the simple ceremony held to hand over the houses to two families.
