Govt to celebrate Vesak through electronic media
April 29, 2020President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in meeting with Chief prelate, Kotte Sri Kalyani Samagri Dhrama Maha Sanga Sabha Most Ven. Dr. Iththapana Dhammalankara Thero and His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith yesterday (28), has emphasized the possibility of utilizing of electronic media for upcoming Vesak celebrations, says President Media Division (PMD).
Most Ven. Dr. Dhammalankara thero has agreed to request the public to celebrate upcoming Vesak festive while staying at home, PMD says.
Both Maha Nayake Thero and Cardinal commended the measures taken by the President to contain the spread of COVID-19 so far, while providing relief measures to the affected people.
According to PMD, the President is confident that curfew could be gradually eased in coming weeks.
Responding to Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith on the progress of investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks, President Rajapaksa has mentioned, it is the Government’s endeavour to identify those who are behind the sinister motive, PMD says.
