Spread of the COVID-19 is under control in general says President
April 30, 2020Sri Lanka has been able to bring the spread of COVID -19 under control in general, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said.
He made this comment explaining Sri Lanka’s response to the virus situation with the Acting Ambassador and Chargé d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Colombo Hu Wei on Wednesday (April 29).
The President had further explained the reasons for the sudden increase in infections during the last few days and said remedial steps have been taken immediately.
Acting Ambassador Hu Wei was paying a courtesy call with the President.
President Rajapaksa recalled the assistance extended by China to Sri Lanka from the time of Rubber-Rice Pact and also recalled that China had stood with Sri Lanka during the armed conflict and the post-conflict development drive.
President’s Secretary P. B. Jayasundera and the Head of the Political Office of the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka Luo were also present at the occassion.
