President instructs to formulate corrective measures to strengthen preventing Coronavirus

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said that virus control activities should be strengthened through identifying weaknesses and lapses while initiating measures to correct them.

President Rajapaksa informed this at a meeting held with the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on prevention of COVID- 19 at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (30).

Highlighting the requirement to formulate a specific plan to deviate from the former practice in dealing with distinctive groups and people living in clusters, the President has requested authorities to be vigilant in monitoring how state sector workers adhered to Government’s instructions issued on them once the work at offices is resumed.

While appreciating the efforts of frontline healthcare, defence services and other parties involved, President Rajapaksa has given green light for studies into the indigenous medicines which may improve the immunity against the infectious disease.

President has also instructed authorities to investigate the quality of protective kits given to healthcare and security forces during the session.

Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi, President's Secretary Dr. P. B. Jayasundera, Prime Minister's  Secretary  Gamini Senarath, Defence Secretary Kamal Gunaratne, Secretary to Health Ministry Bhadrani Jayawardene, Tri-Forces Commanders , Acting IGP, medical consultants and the members of the PTF were also present.
