SLAF hands over newly built nursing quarters at IDH
May 08, 2020Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF), fulfilling an urgent need to provide accommodation facilities for nursing staff at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH), has handed over the newly built accommodation facility, constructed by the SLAF, at the IDH, today.
The SLAF’s Directorate of Civil Engineering has commenced constructing the nursing quarters following the directives of SLAF Commander Air Marshal Sumangala Dias and with the support of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA).
The SLAF Engineering Team was led by Wing Commander KMP Hewapathirana and Flight Lt. IVC Buddika together with 60 airmen from the Civil Engineering Wing at Katunayake.
The building is a prefabricated structure consisting 16 rooms with attached bathrooms. The foundation, tiled flooring and the finishing of this building was completed by the SLAF while the pre-fabricated structure was provided by the Ports Authority. The new building will provide accommodation for 30 nursing staff.
SLPA Chairman Lt.Gen. (Retd) Daya Ratnayake and SLAF’s Director Civil Engineering, Air Vice Marshal Ruchira Samarasinghe handed over the newly built nursing quarters to Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi at a function held at the IDH, today.
