Army distributes relief packs among 750 needy families in Jaffna on Vesak Poya Day
May 09, 2020Over 750 needy families in Thondamanaru, Kerudavil, Valvettithurai, Avarangal, Navaliyattal,ketpely, Mirusuvil, Pavasikkulam, Kaithady, Chavakachcheri, Kaddaikadu, Mallakam, Veththilaikerni, Kevil, Vallai, Inuvil, Vaddukkodai, Navanthurai, Savalkattu, Uduvil and Kayts areas were the recipients of dry ration packs, distributed by Jaffna Army troops with the support of the Army Buddhist Association, headquartered in Panagoda on the Vesak Poya Day (7).
Troops, following the directions of the Security Forces Commander Jaffna, Maj. Gen. Ruwan Wanigasooriya, had distributed dry ration packs and pre-cooked lunch packets among the needy in those villages in the Jaffna peninsula.
They had spent money they generally spend on Vesak Poya Day decorations to buy rations packs for the needy.
