Wanni troops hands over a newly built house to a needy family
May 09, 2020Security Force HQ-Wanni (SFHQ W) has handed over a newly built house by its troops to a low-income family living in Adiranigama, Ihala Halmillewa, Eppawala on Wednesday (6).
SFHQW Commander Maj. Gen. Rohitha Dharmasiri, who was the Chief Guest, handed over the keys of the new house to W A Upul Wanasooriyaarachchi.
The group of officers, relatives of the recipient villagers and 7 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) troops, including the project's coordinator, Col. Anil Peiris, Commander 212 Brigade who has been the driving force behind the house construction project in the Wanni, participated at the simple ceremony held to hand over the house to the family.
Preethi Gajanayake, a Sri Lankan expatriate in Australia, through personal contacts sponsored to construct the house with all necessary amenities and the soldiers of the 7 SLAC completed the construction.
The newly-constructed house was comprised of a sitting area, dining room, bedrooms, washroom, kitchen, etc and all essential household items, electric appliances and furniture gifted by the same sponsor.
