Public urged to restrict movements despite relaxing of curfew - Head of NOCPCO
May 10, 2020The public has been urged to restrict movements to essential matters adhering to acceptable and responsible social behaviour despite relaxing of curfew from Monday( May 11).
Further, public transport would be available only to the persons on essential services, and the general public should desist from using such transport facilities. Army Chief Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva told the media at the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) at Rajagiriya.
He said a total of 272 more individuals were flown to Sri Lanka early this morning from Melbourne by a Sri Lankan Airlines flight.
Another group of individuals from Malaysia are expected to land here this evening, he added.
"In the past few weeks, all Sri Lankans made a dedicated contribution to preventive work of the coronavirus. At the same time, it is the paramount duty of every citizen to keep off from infecting the virus and extend their maximum support to the Police, armed forces and Civil Security Department personnel for them to conduct their duties in the best interests of the public”, Lt.Gen. Silva stressed.
