President Rajapaksa instructs on steps to restore normalcy
May 12, 2020President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in a meeting with the Presidential Task Force (PTF) established to Combat COVID-19, emphasised on the necessity of restoration of normalcy to boost the development activities, while containing the spread of COVID-19 in the country, at a meeting held at the Presidential Secretariat.
Necessity of economic revival amidst normalcy, strategies to prevent virus spread while paying attention to areas of high population density, reopening of schools and education of students through media prior to operating the education sector, regulating of arrival of Sri Lankan students from foreign countries, health issues over illicit liquor, relaxation of mental stress and health issues of people stuck in curfew, were also among the subjects discussed during the session.
President Rajapaksa highlighted the significance of storing biometric data and extending of passport and personnel registration services to the district levels. Presidential Task Force was also directed to review for a technical management process to preserve agro-harvest in the country.
President’s Secretary Dr. PB Jayasundera, Ministry Secretaries, officials of the Urban Development Authority, Road Development Authority, Board of Investments and the Ports Authority were also present at the meeting.
