Met Dept warns Lankan fishermen on cyclonic depression in seas of North-East
May 17, 2020Meteorology Department, Sri Lanka warns fishing communities be more vigilant issuing weather forecast today morning (17), since a deep depression over South-East Bay of Bengal has intensified into a cyclonic storm called “AMPHAN”, nearly 610 kilometres North-East of Trincomalee.
Meteorology department says it is very likely to be intensified further into a severe cyclonic storm during within the next 12 hours and a very severe cyclonic storm in the following day (18).
Weather forecast also says, sea areas around the island can be fairly rough and the sea area extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Galle and Hambantota will be rough or very rough from time to time.
