Meeting to educate War Hero Associations on Presidential directive to extend welfare initiatives

A meeting was held at the Ministry today (29 May) educate on a Presidential directive and look into the welfare matters of the War Heroes and War Hero families. The meeting was chaired by the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affaires Mr. J.J. Rathnasiri. Private Secretary to the Minister of Defence and President's Coordinating Secretary Mr. Sanath Weerasooriya was also present at the meeting.

The meeting was held in order to inform and educate the members of forum of fallen and dis-able War Hero Associations on the President's directive to extend the pay and other allowances to the dependents of fallen War Heroes and dis-able War Heroes throughout their lifetime. It also provided a platform to voice the grievances and welfare related issues faced by them. The officials had fruitful discussions with the representatives of the forum who were present at the meeting.

Officials of the Finance Ministry, Pensions Department and senior officers of the Tri Forces welfare directorates also joined in the deliberations to explain the present progress of the President's initiative and also to find solutions to issues faced by these War Heroes and their families and expedite the process.
