New Air Force Commander appointed
May 29, 2019President Maithripala Sirisena has appointed Air Marshal D L Sumangala Dias as the new Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force. According to President's media, the new Air Force Commander received his letter of appointment from the President at the President's Official Residence, today morning (May 29).
Air Marshal D L Sumangala Dias is the 17th Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
According to Air Force media, the outgoing Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Kapila Jayampathy handed over the ceremonial baton symbolizing the change of command during a ceremony held at the Air Force Headquarters in Colombo, this morning.
Meanwhile, the outgoing commander Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy has been promoted to the four-star rank of Air Chief Marshal by the President with effect from Tuesday (28).
