SLAF constructs a new triage center for the Panadura base hospital
May 28, 2020Sri Lanka Air Force constructed ‘Triage Center’ - first of its kind in providing treatment for Coronavirus positive patients at the Panadura base hospital was declared opened today (May 28).
Construction work of the facility was funded by the Esufally Family and Hemas Holdings (Pvt) Ltd.
Triage is the process of determining the priority of patients’ treatments by the severity of their condition or likelihood of recovery with or without treatment.
This prioritizes patient treatment efficiently when resources are not abundantly available. This method helps to determine the priority of emergency treatment, emergency transportation or required medical care for the patient.
The opening event was graced by the Chairman of Hemas Hospitals (Pvt) Ltd and Hemas Pharmaceuticals (Pvt) Ltd Avanti Esufally and the former Sri Lankan Cricket captain, Kumar Sangakkara as well.
The construction work of the facility commenced on 13 May, on the directives of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias as an extension of the Air Force’s humanitarian assistance initiatives against the COVID -19.
