General public is requested to act calm and do not get panicked by actions of narrow minded persons

Navy Marine Corps took 06 personnel in to custody who were engaged in unlawful sand mining in Kandalkadu area in Kinniya, Trincomalee on yesterday (23 May). Navy will take strict actions against the persons who are carrying out unlawful activities without looking into their positions or status, said the Navy Spokesman Lieutenant Commander Isuru Sooriyabandara during the press briefing at the Media Centre in Kollupitiya, last evening (24 May).

Police were able to find few hand grenades in the vicinity of a school in Dickhena, in Baduraliya police division after it was reported by security personnel of the school, yesterday night (23 May). 02 Police teams are in operation to arrest a suspected person who has dropped those grenades in that location. The grenades were safely exploded by the Army bomb disposal unit, said the Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara during the press briefing last evening (24 May).

The general public is requested to act calm and do not get panicked in order to worn out the actions by narrow minded persons or groups who are creating tense situations in the public. Another 05 suspects for Easter Sunday attack were taken into custody from Horowpothana police division and kept in Police custody for questioning, stated the Police Spokesman.

41 Bank accounts with 134 million rupees owned by the suspects who are in custody of the Criminal Investigation Department and Terrorist Investigation Department in connection with the Easter Sunday attack has been identified and been held for further investigations. Furthermore, 14 million rupees belongs to those suspects were also been taken into CID custody and investigations are in progress to identify other properties worth about 7 Billion rupees owned by those suspects, further stated the Police Spokesman.
