CID commences probe into forging President’s signature
June 04, 2020A suspect who allegedly involved in forging President’s signature in a falsely designed official letterhead was remanded until June 8, after he was produced before the Fort Magistrate Court today (4), Police Media Spokesman Superintendent of Police (SP) Jaliya Senarathne said the 37- year- old, a resident of Kurunegala, was arrested by the Colombo Fraud Investigation Bureau (CFIB), following a complain logged by the Bank of Ceylon (BOC) manager of it's Head Office in Colombo, yesterday.
The complaint was made after recieving a suspicious letter addressed to BOC Chairman, titled ‘Reinstating of Suspended Employee in BOC’, with the signature of the President Rajapaksa on May 28.
Further, the suspect, along with a laptop and a pen-drive used for forged certification, was arrested by the CFIB officials after he was summoned for an interview to the BOC Head Office.
SP Senaratne said Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is now conducting investigations into the incident.
