‘ITUKAMA’ COVID-19 Fund balance surpasses Rs. 1,374 million

‘ITUKAMA’ COVID-19 Healthcare and Social Security Fund balance has now surpassed Rs. 1,374 million due to flow of corporate and individual donations and direct deposits.  

The Central Province Education Department donated Rs. 14,133,164.86, while the Central Province Education services and credit cooperative society contributed Rs. 200,000 to the fund.  The Norwood pradeshiya sabha Chairperson K.K Ravi had donated Rs. 50,000 and the relevant cheques were handed over by the Central Province Governor Lalith U. Gamage to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the President’s office yesterday (June 9).

Further, Uva province Governor Raja Collure donated Rs. 11,612,217.02, the Southern Provincial Governor Willy Gamage donated Rs. 20, 273,541.85 and the Northern province Governor P.S.M Charles donated 3,000,000 to the fund at same the event.

Meanwhile, Governor Eastern Province Anuradha Yahampath contributed Rs. 40,000,000 donated by civil servants and non-governmental organizations in the Eastern province. In addition, amount of Rs. 20,000,000 was also handed over to the fund by the Western province Governor Marshal of the Air Force W.D.M.J Roshan Goonetileke.

Currently, the amount of the ‘Itukama’ COVID 19 Healthcare and Security Fund remains at 1,374,575,492.89.

Local, as well as foreign donors have made their contributions to the fund.

In addition, Dial Textile Industries (pvt) Ltd donated Rs. 3,000,000, Neil Umagiliya donated a sum of Rs. 1,000,000 and Lion Vision for Sight Hospital Trust donated Rs. 10,000,000.

The Sri Lanka –Australia –New Zealand Business Council had also contributed Rs. 500,000, while Attorney at Law, D. Laksiri Mendis donated an amount of Rs. 500,000 to the fund.

The donations to Itukama COVID – 19 Healthcare and Social Security Fund have been exempted from taxes and foreign exchange regulations. Deposits can be made through cheques, telegraphic transfers, via www.itukama.lk or by dialing #207#.
