New Presidential Secretariat Ombudsman to receive public issues including drug trafficking

June 12, 2020

Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (Retd) S. M. Wickremasinghe has been appointed as the Ombudsman to Presidential Secretariat with today (12), says President’s Media Division.

The new office, instituted to answer public grievances and issues, requests the general public to submit complains related to large scale drug trafficking which disrupts civilian life, damages to the environment and any other illegal activity people may come-across.

The objective of setting up an Ombudsman's Office is to provide solutions to inconveniences or distress situations faced by general public, due to the negligence of state-sector officials or acting beyond authority vested on them while exercising entrusted administrative duties.

The Office of the Ombudsman is located on the 3rd Floor, Old Standard Chartered Bank Building, Janadhipathi Mawatha, Colombo 1.

Public is requested to submit complaints/grievances (if any) by visiting the office, by post, by fax (011 2338073) or through an e-mail (ombudsman@presidentsoffice.lk) for further actions.
