It was reopened after Health Ministry’s recommendation that the base is free of coronavirus and recommended to recommence duties under health care guidelines, Navy Spokesperson Lt. Com. Isuru Sooriyabandara said.

Along with the identification of the first sailor positive for coronavirus on April 22, the entire camp premises was closed.

He said among the sailors who contracted the virus, 786 have recovered so far and only 112 are receiving treatments at hospitals.
