Search operation to put suspects with illegal firearms behind bars
June 26, 2020A 41-year-old suspect nabbed with a shotgun at Pugoda by the Pugoda Police will be produced before the Pugoda Magistrate Court for legal action today (June 26), Police Media Division said.
During a search operation conducted following a tip-off, Police recovered a firearm, is suspected to have been smuggled from a foreign country, two live rounds and one sword in possession of the suspect from Ovitigama in Pugoda.
Pugoda Police is conducting further investigations.
Meanwhile, another 24-year-old suspect was nabbed with a locally manufactured shotgun from Mallavi area, Police Media Division said.
The suspect will be produced before the Mullaithivu Magistrate Court for legal action today (June 26).
