Defence Secretary reviews renovation at NDC site
July 03, 2020Defence Secretary Maj. Gen. (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne directed the respective officials today (03) to expedite the work to commence the academic program of National Defence College (NDC).
Maj. Gen. Gunaratne discussed the progress of the renovation work at the site with NDC Commandant Maj. Gen. (Retd) Amal Karunasekara, Air Force Commander, Navy’s Chief of Staff and DGGS of the Sri Lanka Army at the venue.
He reviewed the renovation plan of the buildings and instructed the officials to expedite the work using available resources.
The Defence Secretary also directed the officials to look into the possibility of commencing the academic programs this year and also to increase the intake for more officer students to pursue higher education.
The proposed NDC site, which is known as ‘Mumtaz Mahal’, is the former official residence of the Speaker.
